A small town, two building waves
The Census Bureau's American Community Survey (2020–2024 estimates) counts about 2,570 housing units in Walkertown. About 81% are single detached houses and about 74% are owner-occupied. Building came in two waves: about 1,050 homes from before 1980, and about 1,150 since 2000.

Built before 1980 Newer
The older Walkertown homes along Old Hollow Road and near the town center often have crawlspaces and older foundations. The newer subdivisions sit on slabs and on lots cut out of woods. Both get termites, but in different places: through damp crawlspace wood on the older houses, and through slab joints and plumbing on the new ones.
What Walkertown homes call about
Termite calls here are often a question rather than an emergency: is the builder treatment on a newer house still active? Mice come in from the woods and fields in fall. Porches, decks and eaves next to the trees collect spiders and paper wasp nests, and the shaded wooded lots get mosquitoes.
